Founded in 2002 and based in Paris and Berlin, Wild Bunch is a production and distribution group specialising in films, videos and television programmes. Its catalogue comprises 2,600 films and includes many internationally award-winning titles, features iconic films such as The Artist, The King’s Speech, Drive, Le Petit Nicolas and March of the Penguins. As part of its insolvency proceedings, the law firm 2M&associés, represented by Ms. Marine Pace, has issued a call for tenders with a deadline of 28 September 2026 at 12.00 noon.
Wild Bunch SA has traditionally operated in France, Germany, Italy, Spain and Austria, with a pan-European independent distribution model. The group positions itself as an independent European platform specialising in arthouse films with commercial potential, international acquisitions, multi-platform distribution, catalogue development and promotion, European co-productions, and multi-window distribution across TV, SVOD and VOD.
The group acts as a direct distributor for cinema and video in France, Italy (BiM Distribuzione), Germany (Wild Bunch Germany), Spain (Vértigo Films) and Austria (Wild Bunch Austria). Wild Bunch is the European distributor of films from the Japanese animation studio Ghibli, and its catalogue has won several awards at major international film festivals, including the Cannes Film Festival. This catalogue, which comprises 2,600 films – including those distributed by its subsidiaries – has featured award-winning titles from Cannes such as The Artist, 4 Months, 3 Weeks, 2 Days, Dheepan, Shoplifters and Titane, as well as The King’s Speech and Pan’s Labyrinth.
The group holds majority shareholdings in 11 European subsidiaries.
Wild Bunch SA employs 32 staff and achieved a turnover of €15 million in 2025.
Open auditions for the group’s future
Having been placed in administration, Wild Bunch is now seeking investors to acquire its shares and present a going-concern plan or, failing that, buyers to ensure the continuation of its production and distribution activities.
The buyer will be able to draw on the group’s pan-European distribution network, its existing distribution, sales and acquisitions teams, and the group’s reputation in the distribution of arthouse films, supported by the awards it has won at international film festivals.
The insolvency practitioner, 2M&associés (Marine Pace), has issued a call for tenders, with a deadline of 12.00 (midday) on Monday 28 September 2026.
